Pomocí dalekohledu ESO/VLT astronomové zkoumali nezvykle výrazné slábnutí jinak jasné hvězdy Betelgeuse, rudého veleobra ležícího na obloze v souhvězdí Orion. Unikátní snímky povrchu této obří hvězdy zachycují nejen její slábnutí, ale také zdánlivé změny tvaru.
