Působivá kolekce slabých, ale barevných kosmických objektů na tomto snímku je známá jako mlhovina Racek, protože svým vzhledem připomíná ptáka v letu. Útvar tvoří oblaky prachu, vodíku, hélia a malého množství těžších chemických prvků. Celá oblast je místem zrodu nových hvězd. Mimořádné rozlišení tohoto záběru pořízeného pomocí přehlídkového teleskopu ESO/VST odhaluje detaily jednotlivých astronomických objektů, které celou mlhovinu tvoří, stejně jako jemných útvarů mezi nimi. VST je jedním z největších přehlídkových dalekohledů na světě pro viditelnou oblast světla.
