Cerro Armazones at sunset
The setting Sun, casting long shadows across the Chilean Atacama desert as seen from Paranal, illuminates the future home of ESO's European-Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) — Cerro Armazones. The now leveled peak, at 3300 metres high, will host the largest 'eye on the sky' with a 39-metre primary mirror.
