Construction of the ELT in Chile
Construction of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) in Cerro Armazones in Chile. The ELT will be the biggest "eye to the sky" with a 39-metre primary mirror, perfect for observing extra-solar planets, early-Universe galaxies and the nature of dark matter. The high number of clear nights, the atmosphere and other elements makes this an advantageous site for astronomy.
