Rare storm over Paranal

This very unusual view shows the summit of Cerro Paranal, home of ESO’s Very Large Telescope, during the worst weather period in the last decade. The normally flawless blue sky of the Atacama Desert was briefly replaced by a bleak grey vista more characteristic of northern Europe. The picture was taken by ESO Photo Ambassador Gianluca Lombardi.
