La Silla SEST time-lapse
The 15-metre diameter Swedish-ESO Submillimetre Telescope under a moonlit starry sky. At the time of first light, it was the only submillimetre telescope in operation in the Southern Hemisphere. However, since 2013, the telescope has no longer been in operation and has been superseded by telescopes such as ALMA.
