Artistic rendering: close-up view of the first ELT prefocal station

The ELT prefocal station receives its name from being the last component before the light arrives at the telescope focus. One of its functions will be to use its large flat mirror (visible to the centre right of the image) to distribute light collected from the main mirrors of the ELT to the many scientific instruments on its side of the telescope.
