Panning across the Carina Nebula around the Wolf–Rayet star WR 22

This pan sequence shows many fascinating details in a detailed view of part of the Carina Nebula that was created from images through red, green and blue filters taken with the Wide Field Imager on the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile. The second half of the pan shows the unusual hot massive young star WR 22, a member of the rare class of Wolf–Rayet stars.
