08.02.2010 ---------- Nice little district. We started at the baby-lift 6 (5%) and 5 (Durchholzen 10%) both hand-hold-rope lifts. Baby lift is OK, the other is not so useful I think, at least it was icy on that day. One 4-seat X-press sessellift (no cover) takes you up. The whole district is pointing North, so it is never in *real* sun, at least not the top part. All slopes on the sessel-lift front were icy, and there is no real difference between red and blue it seems. For a blue they are pretty tough when they are icy (33%), so not really good for beginners. Go left on the top to take a nice friendly slide through the forest and end up at the teller-lift Riedalmlift (3, 13%). This had great snow even when the front below was pure ice, and it is a good second step. There is no way back to the top of the sessel though, so it means skiing down in the end. Aschinger alm is a nice place to eat. Nice big *real* tea cups (not mugs). Then we went to Aschinger alm lift (4, 28%, 900m T-bar). This is a great blue slope. Very wide, lots of powder in the off-piste area, nice variety of little and big bumbs, a natural half-pipe. A good 3rd step for a beginner.
