frozen mouse

Dear Midas Support Group,


I have installed MIDAS 99NOVpl2.2 on a Linux PC
(Athlon 800MHz, 256 Mega RAM, Linux kernel 2.2.13;
X server XFREE 86 4.0.1, graphic card ATI RAGE 128 PRO, 32Mega RAM).

My problem is that when I run my spectra reduction programs, the
mouse is frozen nearly half of the time so that it is impossible
to do anything else in the meanwhile. 

It seems to be during operations like
aver/row, filter/cosmic, compu/ima (frame divisions),
performed on 562x4096 pixels frames.

Does someone know how to avoid this problem?
