- In VMS, MIDASHOME and MIDVERS symbols
could be inferred from your own SETMIDAS or INMIDAS
definitions.
In UNIX, the parameters of the command inmidas
override the values of the environment variables MIDASHOME
and MIDVERS variables.

- In VMS, the logical name MID_DISK refers to the disk
where the MIDAS system is stored and MIDASHOME to the main
directory. In UNIX, the variable MIDASHOME refers to the
root directory of MIDAS. The symbol MIDVERS holds the MIDAS
version, e.g. 91NOV in VMS and UNIX.

- In VMS, there is no distinction between file names in upper or
lower case. In UNIX there is a difference! Therefore,
the convention in MIDAS is to always use lower case for
filenames (which you may type in as upper case in VMS).
