Title: Growing the first plants on Mars and the Moon


Abstract: In the next decades, humans will have a colony of astronauts on the surface of Mars for extended periods of time .  One 
critical aspect to be developed in advance is how these astronauts will obtain their food in this new environment. Here we show our 
preliminary advances in an initiative to send a small greenhouse to Mars and the Moon in order to attain the first germination of 
seeds and initial growth of platelets in an extraterrestrial environment.
