Title:Numerical Milky-Way Like Galaxies Abstract: Over the past years, considerable progress has been made on physical models of a galaxy such as the Milky Way. Some new ingredients include detailed mass distributions of the central bar, as well as physical models of the spiral structure. The comparison with previous theoretical work which considered bar and spiral structure as simple perturbing terms has proved to be fruitful, reinforcing theory (such as the role of resonances) and extending it to interesting new possibilities. Also, the inclusion of gas, the Galactic magnetic field, and the 3rd (vertical to the midplane) dimension, self-gravity, and the coupling of the above mentioned mass distributions to the usual axisymmetric galactic model, are changing classic results on galactic dynamics.
