The SciOp phone from the Administration building and those in the telescopes operated from RITZ (currently only NTT) are locked.

The phones of the telescopes not yet operated from RITZ are unlocked.

In order to have a better control on the calls that are made from the offices, RITZ and telescope extensions, the procedure is the following:

From the locked phones:

• For official, SciOp related phone calls, pls get the line using *15 45964 94/97/98 then dial the number. This code will identify the call as official, and it will be billed to SciOp. Pls do not distribute this code outside SciOp.
• For private phone call, please use your personal *15 code.
• For official, NON-SciOp related calls (e.g. scientific), pls use common sense. If the call is urgent, make it with the SciOp code. If not, pls call from Santiago or use email/fax.

From the unlocked phones

• For official call, dial directly
• For pricate calls, please use your personal *15 code. Note that this is critical only for long distance calls. For short, local calls, you can use the official lines.
