A fish-eye view on Paranal

This 720 x 720 pixel fulldome time-lapse movie, taken with a fish-eye lens, shows a whole night at Paranal, the site of ESO's Very Large Telescope.

In the lower part of the frame, two of the VLT's four Unit Telescopes are visible, and in the upper part, the dome of the VLT Survey Telescope (VST), a state-of-the-art optical wide-field ground-based facility, currently being built in cooperation between the Osservatorio Astronomico di Capodimonte (OAC) in Naples, Italy, and ESO. The VST is expected to become operational in 2010.

This sequence is available in 1080p and stereoscopic 3D from José
Francisco Salgado (josefrancisco.org).

Please note that the "Fulldome 2k Master" format can only be downloaded at a resolution of 720x720 pixels.
