ESO Video 17: Imaging Cosmic Dawn (ALMA)

This video was produced by ESO in connection with a conference in Washington D.C. (USA) on October 6-8, 1999: Science with a Large Millimeter Telescope Array.

It is available on a CD-ROM in different versions. It presents the Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA), one of the largest ground-based astronomy projects of the next decade. ALMA will be comprised of some 64 12-meter, submillimetre-quality antennas at the high-altitude (5000 m) Llano de Chajnantor, possible the world's best site for millimetre astronomy, close to San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile.
