Mounted image 125: The Orion Nebula

Orion, the Hunter, is possibly the most recognisable constellation in the sky. The vast star-forming region of the Orion Nebula depicted in this image lies within Orion’s sword and is bright enough to be visible to the naked eye. This image was made with the Wide Field Imager at ESO’s La Silla Observatory in Chile.
