Panorama of a beautiful habitat in the desert

Laguna Miscanti is situated high in the Chilean Atacama Desert, close to the border to Argentina. Located about 100 kilometers south of the city San Pedro, visitors pass by this beautiful lake when driving on the Routa 23 to Argentina.

The lake is 4140 metres above sea level and close to the volcano Miscanti. The water of the lakes comes from the groundwater of the surrounding mountains. Laguna Miscanti is an important habitat for flamingos and the Tagua Cornuda ducks.
