The VLT Auxiliary Telescopes on their mountain perch

The VLT's Auxiliary Telescopes huddle together at Paranal, which appears here to be a platform built in the sky, a situation that would in fact be desirable, but, at an altitude of 2635 metres, the peak of Cerro Paranal makes for an agreeable compromise.
