ALMA at the end of the rainbow

Several Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) antennas sit below a rare optical phenomenon known as a circumhorizontal arc. It is formed by the refraction of sunlight in plate-shaped ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere, typically in cirrus or cirrostratus clouds.
