Dark at the Residencia
The Residencia at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile, is home to the scientists and workers who spend their days at the Very Large Telescope (VLT). Just the illuminated roof can be seen at the very bottom of this image, reducing light pollution to an absolute minimum so that the Milky Way above can be observed in the highest detail.
