APEX image calendar, July 2010 — APEX Chajnantor Facilities seen from Cerro Chajnantor
From atop Cerro Chajnantor, the Chajnantor facilities for APEX appear tiny and isolated. Even the largest submillimetre-wavelength telescope operating in the southern hemisphere appears dwarfed by the vast plateau on which it resides.
