APEX image calendar, February 2010 — APEX in snow
The Atacama Pathfinder Experiment telescope, or APEX, blends into the snowy field on the Chajnantor plateau in Chile's Atacama region. At 5,100 metres, it’s the highest observatory site on the planet, and moisture is rare, with the snow an uncommon visitor.
