Bochum Observatory at Armazones

A small outcrop on a rust-tinted mound, the Bochum Observatory sits at the foot of Cerro Armazones — the future home of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). The pyramid enclosure protects the 1.5-metre Hexapod-Telescope — one of a handful of telescopes situated here — from the harsh desert environment.
