Panorama of the VLT in action
This panorama was taken by Babak Tafreshi, one of the ESO Photo Ambassadors, on the platform of ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT) on Cerro Paranal in Chile. Our purple, dusty Milky Way galaxy can be seen to arc across the sky above the Unit Telescopes and Auxiliary Telescopes which can work together, to form a giant ‘interferometer’, the ESO Very Large Telescope Interferometer.
