Glimpse of a rare glow

In the background of this fish-eye fulldome picture, the Large and Small Magellanic Cloud galaxies are visible to the left of the Yepun Unit Telescope, one of four such 8.2-metre instruments situated at the ESO-operated Very Large Telescope (VLT). Centre right, the zodiacal light glows above the Milky Way, which lies beyond the horizon. The VLT is based at the Cerro Paranal site in the Atacama Desert of northern Chile.
