ESOcast 76: Ein polarisierter Blick auf stellaren Magnetismus

ESO-Teleskope werden für die Suche nach den subtilen Anzeichen von Magnetfeldern in anderen Sternen und sogar für die Kartierung der Flecken auf ihrer Oberfläche eingesetzt. Diese Informationen helfen bei der Klärung der Frage, warum Sterne magnetisch sind. Da auch unsere Sonne zu solchen Sternen zählt, lassen sich so auch Rückschlüsse für die Bedeutung des Magnetismus für das Leben auf der Erde und auch an anderen Stellen im Universum ziehen.
