ALMA Digitizer prototype undergoing testing

An ALMA Digitizer prototype being tested at the Observatoire de Bordeaux. The digitizer converts analogue data from the ALMA Front End electronics into a digital form, before the digital signals are sent from each antenna along optical fibres to the Array Operations Site (AOS) Technical Building. The digitizer work was carried out in close collaboration between ESO and the University of Bordeaux.
