The Paranal Residencia

Panoramic view of the Paranal Residencia, taken from the south corner of the building, looking north. The windows of the 108 rooms look west (left on the picture), towards the Pacific Ocean. This award-winning building was designed by German architects Auer+Weber in a partially subterranean L-shape; the use of natural materials and colours allows the Residencia to blend into the Atacama Desert’s landscape. In the background on the left is the Very Large Telescope (VLT) atop Cerro Paranal.
