4 INSTALLATION GUIDE

The VLT TCS Simulation Package is distributed as part of the VLT Common Software. It currently includes:

1. the TCS simulation and developement package:

· the TCS modules tif, msw, prs, trkws, tcs and sla

· a subset of the TCS database, customized for simulation

· the TCS Simulation Module tcssim

2. the TCS interface to the ESO Star Catalogue Interface

· the ESO AstroCatalog Library: to provide access to astronomical catalogues, either local or on the network (see [10] for more).

· the TCS error handling interface to it (module catif)

and all the relevant documentation in both printed and PostScript file format.

The distribution kit contains all the sources needed to regenerate the software.

Installation procedures are part of the VLT Common Software standard installation procedure and are described in details in the VLT Common Software Installation Manual[7].

4.1 BACKWARD/FUTURE COMPATIBILITY

Although any effort will be done to keep the present interface, future releases may contain minor incompatibility that requires editing.
