life example

The data report page lists each raw file and its most important properties. Most information is read from the file headers, but there is also information (like OB grades and comments; scores; comments) added from other sources. There is one such page for each specified date and instrument.

Note that all information displayed here is sorted by 'DFO date' which is a 24 hour period starting just before the begin of a night. You will typically find the report starting with nighttime calibrations (sky flats, standard stars, if any) or science data, then followed by the associated daytime calibrations. Per agreement with PSO, the turnover time is 21:00 UT. That value is also displayed on the instrument calChecker page ("*Date on this monitor changes at 21:00 UT"). This arrangement is different from the Paranal convention!

The columns are configured differently for each instrument. There is a common part (like prog_id, obs_id, arcfile etc.), and a setup part which differs from instrument to instrument.

The page comes in two views. You can select the standard data report (default), or the report with some additional nightlog information .

The header of a data report has the following columns:

AV? displays the availability in NGAS (the archive system at Garching HQ) of a raw file.
available (this should be the usual case)
not yet available for download (since it might still be on transit from the observatory to NGAS, or due to a technical problem)

PROG_ID, OBS_ID as read from the file header; the OB grade (A/B/C/D) is color-coded; if followed by '!', there is an OB comment (displayed on mouseover)

next columns are not standardized but typically include ARCFILE, ORIGFILE, DPR keys, setup keys, AIRMass, EXPTime, MJD.

score displays the color-coded score result and a link to the score file, once the score has been determined. Note that the score symbol is displayed for the first file of an AB only (generally ABs might contain more than one raw file). The scores become visible after processing of the data.

file comm. displays any comment by the QC scientist (after the QC review has been made).

As of about begin of April 2011, the table is sortable and can be filtered. Enter any string that is visible on the output page. You can also enter multiple strings. Sorting and filtering can be combined.

Navigation

On top you find the navigation bar which works incrementally (forward/backward) and also supports jumps in time.

There are options to display a text version (for printing), NR to jump to the night report, and CAL a link to the calChecker result page.

You can jump up and down .
